the night of Sunday. January 23rd: A Recap of the Weekend

This was the 2nd to last weekend of my USA residency. I had a nice day Sunday being productive and dish-washed for my mother until 9. I met up with Lottee to start our friendship; however i felt it was necessary to bite the bullet and create familiarity before Praha. After a pleasant couple of drinks she left for bed and i joined the Erin Douglas party train. Hysteria ensued in the form of the biggest lover's quarrel the Upper Deck has ever seen, confrontations with finger banging wedding guests, and a hotel room after party that clocked until 6am that soundtrack Mmm bobbity and Lovefool (by The Cardigans, for you hapless squares out there). Hungover and catered Saturday, got off and met up with the stumbling Percy Street bunch, in which Liz was the all-star drunkard. Then to Justin's for a very quiet but friendly campfire. Recovery Room for friends, drinks, Chili cheese fritos and the Matrix reloaded (don't watch drunk). Fuel for brunch and bottomless mimosas then followed by hashish and your average nostalgic Percy street-laying around-doing nothing-Sunday.
I'm beginning to think i'm very socially conscious. Note to self, elaborate on open-ended thoughts and not this crapstick.
Very scary and exciting week ahead but goodnight for now. Keef awaits for me.

Another note to self- smoke hash in Prague: sometimes being a couch potato will give your mind a break and do some good.

Friday. January 21.

Relieved. Tumultuous day yesterday.  Finished up my Folkways essay and had a conversation about with a friend of Ed's and roommate of Brien Biedler's, Justin. We had a great talk about the beautiful woman of St. Philip Street, whether Kodak was a word before camera, and he had a very refreshing opinion on new music coming out. His recommendations go as follows:

Warpaint : P4k TV set is stellar
Ariel Pink's Haunted Graffiti did did "Round and Round" on Jimmy Fallon
The Head and the Heart: openers for Dr. Dog @ the Farm
Zoo Kid, "Out Getting Ribs": British kid makes angsty music with ironic haircut. Can't deny that original grunt of his nor the beautiful guitar floating along.

"Woke Up This Morning" & "Instrumental" by Doug Martsch is a combo that would make any beard grin.
Chulahoma by the Black Keys

I went to Cougars game where they demolished a hapless Western Carolina team. Real ugly purple unis and most unimpressive display of Caucasian basketball skills.

Went home and read some Keef Richards. The books is getting real juicy and is following their first tour supporting their first record. They opened for the Everly Brothers and Little Richard, who apparently was a blown out poof. But like me, Keef's a friend of the faggles, and talked about how when Little Richard was meeting fans he' turn his homo-meter to maximum levels, just to fuck with 'em. After all, it was 1962.

Monday. January 17.

I'm gonna post something i wrote when i found out about when Cam Gardner was coming to visit Charlotte. I was okay with it. I was still spending time with her but she also was initiating a new romance. My patience and jealousy translated to this, a song that strains like the Rolling Stone's "Love in Vain."

What kind of a puzzle has two pieces that fit?
Oh the chance you find two of the same kind
to fit your groove
though you told me our bodies were perfectly entwined

What kind of sickness is heartbreak?
Oh the chance you find so many ways to meand
my wound you seal with joy
just to rip my heart open and open again

Maybe i should go to a casino..
So i can buy me a ticket out of town
I'd follow the roulettes, spin around black and red
take me away, my money, if i can ride round and round

I gambled my clothes naked in the rain
Knowing it was mine to lose and his to gain
